Senior Analog Engineer

We have a position open for a Senior Analog Engineer. The Sr. Analog Engineer works on complex technical problems and provides solutions, which require regular use of ingenuity and creativity. Candidates must possess the ability to learn on the fly and pick up new methods quickly which they will find exciting and challenging. 

Job Description

  • Design and develop electrical subsystems, power electronics, grid tie interfaces, analog interface circuitry and inverter systems
  • Execute and manage product design from concept to production for advanced technologies including design, prototyping, debug validation, testing and certification
  • Responsible for performing tasks directly or working with others to ensure the project moves forward
  • Apply advanced technical principles, theories and concepts
  • Contribute to the development of new principles and concepts

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering expertise in the areas of electronic design, analog design, inverter design, grid tie systems, power electronics (up to 10-15kW), EMI emissions design/testing/certification, and system design throughout the organization
  • Execute and directly manage products and advanced technologies from concept to product release
  • Lead designs through certification by working with approbation agencies to understand required standards and to ensure designs meet or exceed these standards
  • Recommend methods and technologies for improvements based on manufacturing needs and capabilities
  • Assist in the development of technical specifications for future projects and technologies.
  • Enforce high quality thought product cycle to ensue product reliability and safety.
  • Provide advanced technical principles, theories and concepts for electrical and embedded system designs
  • Contribute to the development of new principles, concepts and system level designs for implementation in new products.
  • Ability to work under general direction towards predetermined long-range goals and objectives
  • Ability to work independently to pursue courses of action necessary to obtain desired results

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or System Engineering (MS desired)
  • Minimum 10 years experience in the development of electrical subsystems, power electronics, grid tie inverters and analog interface circuitry
  • Experience in project management and execution involving multiple major projects and technical developments
  • Must be able to set priorities and work independently under aggressive timelines and date driven schedules
  • Must have demonstrated experience of bringing a product from concept through regulatory approvals and mass production
  • Must be able to develop efficient and effective timely solutions to diverse and complex design problems
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Industrial Designer

We’re looking for an energetic, creative industrial designer capable of working within a team of highly technical designers and engineers. The candidate must be able to handle significant project level responsibilities.

Human Factors Specialist

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, execute and document for Human Factors Formative and Summative studies on Hardware and Software

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Technical review and approval for all mechanical component and assembly designs, analysis, and testing.
  • Significant design and engineering responsibilities, including component and assembly designs and design evaluation. 
  • Generation of requirements, detailed design documentation and test plans. 
  • Manage interfaces between mechanical and electrical components. 
  • Drive design goals within the mechanical engineering project team.  Design goals may include product cost, size, weight, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability among others. 
  • Support the development of project plans by estimating the effort required to complete design tasks. 
  • Manage team resources to meet aggressive project schedules. 
  • Interact with suppliers to solve technical concerns. 
  • Provide technical evaluation of supplier capabilities. 
  • Perform failure analysis on test and production assemblies to determine root cause of failure.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience in mechanical system design including electromechanical devices and disposables
  • Self-motivated, requiring little direction
  • Prior experience leading a small team of mechanical engineers
  • Experience developing products from concept through manufacturing
  • Experience packaging electromechanical systems into compact devices
  • Medical device development experience
  • Experience with small, precision mechanisms
  • Component design for high volume manufacturing
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor
  • BSME required

Manufacturing Transition Engineer

The Manufacturing Transition and Support Engineer works with the product development and maintenance teams to ensure that products are smoothly transitioned to production and well maintained throughout the product lifecycle.  The position provides exposure to a wide variety of exciting, industry-changing products in a rigorous, fast-paced environment, and offers significant opportunities for growth.

Requirements:

  • BS in Engineering with at least 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of various component forming processes (Injection Molding, Sheet Metal/Stamping, Casting, Forging, Machining, etc.) and assembly processes (Electronics Assembly, Welding, Fastening, Automation, etc).
  • Knowledge of common systems and tools used to improve manufacturing efficiency (e.g. 6-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, DFx, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills, including proficiency in training assemblers on manufacturing processes and experience working with external partners and suppliers.
  • Passion for a job well done and an intrinsic interest in how things work
  • Experience in manufacturing line planning and design highly desirable
  • Experience in GMP for FDA-approved medical devices highly desirable.
  • Manufacturing fixture design experience highly desirable.
  • Experience in design transfer is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Working within the design cycle to evaluate and improve Design for Manufacturability and Design for Assembly.
  • Planning and conducting pre-production builds, including developing assembly instructions, fixtures, line layout, and process FMEA’s.
  • Creation and management of bills of materials.
  • Supplier selection and management.
  • Serving as a primary interface with external manufacturing partners.
  • Driving the integration of new manufacturing techniques as required to meet the product goals.

Quality Assurance Test Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Writing test plans, test procedures, and other activities involving performance, durability, and reliability assessments.
  • Determining test coverage for revisions to design
  • Creating and evaluating test fixtures needed for product design verification
  • Contributing to design failure investigations that may impact Risk Assessment, Hazard Analysis, and FTA’s
  • Participating and contributing towards Regulatory and Agency submissions. 
  • Authoring Quality Plans, Validation Tests Summaries, and other required QA documents.

Requirements:

  • BS degree in a technical field
  • Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Biomedical Engineering background preferred
  • Prior experience in a research and development environment is a plus.
  • Experience in medical devices, knowledge of FDA’s Quality System Regulations (QSR’s) and/or ISO 13485, and other medical device industry experience a plus.

Interaction Designer

DEKA’s Design team functions as an in-house consultancy supporting development projects as well as DEKA’s business needs. We collaborate with project teams to research user needs and provide design solutions (Industrial Design, User Interface, Prototyping and Human Factors) that blend the technology solution with the human need.

Job Description:

  • Design and build prototypes and simulations of user interfaces
  • Produce wireframes, flow diagrams, detailed specifications, and other design related documentation
  • Communicate concepts to project teams and project management through presentations, prototype demonstrations and simulations
  • Develop creative responses to UX issues that arise during development and testing
  • Create and modify graphics including controls, icons, dialogs, and overall look and feel to maximize usability and maintain a cohesive family of user interfaces
  • Prioritize and communicate personal workload

Requirements:

  • 3+ years experience as a graphic, interaction or visual designer
  • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, computer science, psychology, human factors, or other relevant field
  • Experience with FDA Regulated Medical Devices a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to design, prototype and document user interfaces
  • Experience creating interactive prototypes for evaluation or usability testing using tools such as Axure, Flash, etc.
  • Experience designing user interfaces for a variety of mediums (desktop, touch screen, mobile, etc.)

Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Senior level embedded software engineer to bring product from Alpha concept phase to Beta and Production phases.  Looking for self-motivated individual, with a desire to work on complex software enabled electro-mechanical systems.  Must be able to work independently and in a multi-discipline team environment. 

Responsibilities:

  • Working from software requirements to design new features and improve existing design.
  • Reviewing and documenting software features.
  • Assisting in test case development, working with the QA team, and helping to develop testing tools and frameworks to ensure high quality products and regulatory compliance.
  • Diagnosing system issues in the lab and remotely in the field.
  • Carefully scoping effort and providing reasonable estimates, and delivering quality work in a timely fashion. .

Requirements:

  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of hands on experience with embedded C++/C.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good low level design capabilities.  Able to work with embedded microprocessors and electronics, debuggers, etc.
  • Good high level design capabilities including documenting class hierarchies, state machines, data flows, sequences, etc.
  • Understanding of operating systems concepts, data structures, debugging techniques, software analysis.
  • Competent with software dev tools (makefiles, version control, anomaly tracking).
  • Experience with M2M/cell-based communications a plus.

Associate Systems Engineer

The Junior Systems Engineer works on a multi-disciplinary product development team on the creation, development and lifecycle management of innovative medical products.  The position provides exposure to a wide variety of exciting, industry-changing products in a rigorous, fast-paced environment and offers significant opportunities for growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Using multi-disciplinary engineering skills to develop and maintain sophisticated medical devices
  • Definition of system and subsystem-level requirements and design documentation
  • Definition of test methods and acceptance criteria Performing risk management activities including hazards analysis, fault tree analysis, and FMEA
  • Failure and root cause analysis, including detailed characterization of target systems

System Engineer

Description

We are seeking a dynamic, results driven and inventive multi-disciplinary technical leader for a medical device product development program.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Overall system architecture design, system specifications and upper-level design descriptions
  • System level test strategy, test specifications and protocols
  • Defining critical interfaces between subsystems and leading subsystem team leads in the integration of sophisticated software driven electro-mechanical devices to ensure proper system function
  • Hazards analysis, failure modes analysis and mitigation design
  • Supporting program management to drive design goals within the entire project team; design goals may include product cost, size, weight, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability among others
  • Supporting the development of project plans by estimating the effort required to complete design tasks
  • Providing guidance to manufacturing process development including process development, PFMEA review, and manufacturing test criteria

Requirements:

  • MS/BS in Engineering with 5 years experience in electro-mechanical machine and/or product design
  • Experience in multi-disciplinary environments including embedded software, complex mechanical systems and electronics
  • Demonstrated history of inventive solutions to technical problems
  • Demonstrated technical leadership skills
  • Demonstrated experience with product development, preferably in the medical device market
