Service Engineer
Requirements:
Mechanical Engineering Degree (or similar) from a 4 year institution
Minimum 4 years experience technical field
Ability to diagnose problems and see the solutions through to completion
Hands-on experience with common tools and software
Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
Software experience must include the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Experience using Autodesk Inventor (or similar CAD software) required
Experience in Root Cause Analysis, advanced diagnostics and LabView programming and Data Acquisition also desired
50% Travel required
Responsibilities:
Help maintain a fleet of prototype medical devices and perform service calls as necessary
Work with several departments within the project to solve problems and find solutions
Relay information between key individuals within the servicing process
Documentation of service performed and root cause analysis
Minimum of 4-6 years of experience as a model maker
Attention to detail in surface quality and finish that is documented in a portfolio of well executed prototypes
Experienced painter: comfortable using and maintaining HVLP guns. Being able to use them to apply high quality surfaces of colors, clear coats, and textures.
Self motivated and self directed
Enjoys solving problems and are naturally curious about new technologies
Familiar and capable with typical shop tools
Some experience in silicone molding and urethane casting
Experience with Pro-E, Solidworks or Autodesk Inventor are serious plusses but are not required

Responsibilities:
Planning along with the development team when prototyping can be used on a project as well as how to prototype specific concepts
This candidate will be expected to challenge and grow their skill set as part of the Design Team’s efforts to find new ways to expand DEKA’s prototyping capabilities
Creating appearance models using a variety of fabrication methods including but not limited to: machining, objet printing, sls printing, foam carving
Sanding and painting printed parts
Sanding and polishing plastic and metal parts
Creating silicone molds, color matching and casting urethane parts, cycling molds
CAD surfacing and CAD model development (depending on CAD capabilities) of design concepts
CAD database development of prototype molds so they can be machined
Creating test fixtures in metal, wood and plastic
Running parts on a laser cutter

Usability Engineer
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Factors, Human Computer Interaction, Cognitive Psychology or Cognitive Science. An MS or MA is preferred but not required
6 to 10 years of experience in usability testing, risk analysis or medical product development.
Experience planning and conducting usability testing. Experience moderating usability testing is preferred.
Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills

IEC 60601-1-6 (second and third editions)
IEC 60601-1-11 (not required but preferred)
Responsibilities:
Acting as the usability champion within DEKA, advocating the expansion of usability practices within DEKA’s development process
Advising project teams on how to include usability analyses and usability testing methods within projects based on the specific nature of the devices being developed and any applicable regulatory requirements
Generating required FDA or TUV documentation for regulatory submissions
Acting as a liaison between DEKA Research and Development and outside usability consultants
Plan and conduct usability testing for products at different stages during product development
Analyze results for usability testing and provide recommendations for improvements to both hardware and interfaces based
Running the Use Error portion of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis reviews
Provide heuristic feedback on products at various stages of development
Setting up and conducting early phase research to help inform project teams about use context (environment, primary actors, use cases)
Contribute to persona definition and story boarding exercises as a means of communicating the desired UX or the expected use context
Help to define, prioritize and redefine usability requirements throughout the development process

We are seeking a dynamic, results driven and inventive multi-disciplinary technical leader for a medical device product development program.
Job responsibilities include:
Overall system architecture design, system specifications and upper-level design descriptions
System level test strategy, test specifications and protocols
Defining critical interfaces between subsystems and leading subsystem team leads in the integration of sophisticated software driven electro-mechanical devices to ensure proper system function
Hazards analysis, failure modes analysis and mitigation design
Supporting program management to drive design goals within the entire project team; design goals may include product cost, size, weight, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability among others
Supporting the development of project plans by estimating the effort required to complete design tasks
Providing guidance to manufacturing process development including process development, PFMEA review, and manufacturing test criteria
Requirements:
MS/BS in Engineering with 5 years experience in electro-mechanical machine and/or product design
Experience in multi-disciplinary environments including embedded software, complex mechanical systems and electronics
Demonstrated history of inventive solutions to technical problems
Demonstrated technical leadership skills
Demonstrated experience with product development, preferably in the medical device market
Demonstrated experience with product testing, experimental methods and statistical techniques
